LEOLEOLE

Duration: 60 minutes

Premiered at the 2008 Jerez Festival

"Leoleoleolé" is based on the staging of different flamenco styles within a traditional structure. It is Leonor Leal's solo debut after collaborating with various companies such as the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía under the direction of Cristina Hoyos, the company of Antonio el Pipa, Andrés Marín, and Javier Barón, among others.

We could define it as an essential show and at the same time the seed of her potential as a creator and as a dancer whose most valuable distinguishing mark is her staging, her daring, her aesthetics and her careful musical selection.

“I choose to interpret music and dance from my background: ballet, the solid foundation that my body still remembers, and flamenco, the legacy of my culture and upbringing. Therefore, I don't seek any theatrical plot to express myself; I test what I've experienced and assimilated, freely expressing what moves and excites me.” The performances include seguiriyas, tientos, alegrías, and a farruca, which won the Leonor Leal Award for Outstanding Artist of the competition at the 2008 Madrid Choreographic Competition.

The format features five musicians and two dancers. In addition to Leonor Leal, the guest artist is Antonio Molina "El Choro." The two form an artistic duo full of contrasts, a show brimming with freshness thanks to the different tones they each bring: he champions a racial, percussive, and powerful flamenco, while she brings a restless, diverse, and open perspective... Leoleoleolé; new sensations, energy, elegance, stories to share... a show to let yourself go with and, without a doubt, to enjoy.
