«Dissidences. Flamenco, bodies, stories to dance" is a project that addresses flamenco as a tool of open expression to improve the lives of women in vulnerable situations.
Flamenco, bodies, stories to dance
Disidanzas takes the name of an exhibition dedicated to Nancy Spero, a feminist artist known for her persistent representation of violence against women, presented by the Reina Sofía Museum and MACBA. Inspired by this work, Leonor Leal proposes an innovative methodology based on collaboration with the participating women. Through exercises of inquiry and creation that involve rhythm, the body and listening, we seek to develop bodily, musical and spatial perception. As it progresses through three phases of rehearsals, “DISIDANZAS” builds a show in which all women understand that flamenco is a tool and a language suitable for self-expression, creation and connection between people from different cultures.
Furthermore, to complement the project, our association and the director Joaquín Aneri are making a documentary about this process, which will be available on the CaixaForum+ platform.
The Plata Lugar association and director Joaquín Aneri made a documentary about the process of this project.
